Julian Curtis is a highly experienced global television sales executive, and co-founder, with Ed Louwerse, of independent international distributor Lineup Industries, which offers a bespoke, proactive, marketing-aware approach to programming sales.
Launched in 2014 and based in Amsterdam but with a global reach, Lineup Industries represents a catalogue of high-end factual and entertainment formats and derived IP sourced from around the world, with a core specialism in impactful content that builds brands and generates buzz. Its partners include public broadcasters such as ZDF (Germany), NHK (Japan), KRO and EO (Netherlands) as well as US studios, international content platforms and European, US and Australian producers.
Flagship content represented by Lineup Industries includes Emergency Call, which it guided from a late-night programme on the second public channel in Belgium to a prime time hit on US network ABC, with further local versions produced in major European territories, and Long Lost Family, which has grown into a long-running global brand with a number of spin-off series.
Prior to co-founding Lineup Industries, Curtis was at Sony Pictures Television (SPT) where he oversaw all format sales in EMEA following a stint in Hong Kong building the Asian business of TV formats company 2waytraffic before it was acquired by SPT. He began his career in 1997 at start up factual distributor, Electric Sky, where he looked after sales of an extensive documentary catalogue. On joining Endemol International in 2003, he set up the finished programme sales division selling shows like Fear Factor and Extreme Makeover Home Edition to well over 100 territories.
