Trish Kinane serves as President of Entertainment Programming for Fremantle, as well as Executive Producer & Showrunner for “American Idol” on ABC. Kinane also serves as Executive Producer on “America’s Got Talent” and “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.”
Previously, Kinane was President of Worldwide Entertainment for Fremantle in the UK and has overseen the global roll-out of Fremantle’s developed and acquired nonscripted formats, working to safeguard their integrity, guarantee production quality and manage commercial and talent relationships arising from them. In addition, Kinane also previously served as Executive Producer for “The X Factor” in the U.S., as well as the prior run of “American Idol” on Fox.
Kinane has an extensive background in international television production. Prior to joining Fremantle, she was joint Managing Director of Action Time, one of the U.K.’s top independent companies and international format distributors. She was instrumental in creating original formats, as well as the expansion of the company’s international operations. In 2002, she launched Ludus Entertainment, which created and produced entertainment, reality, game shows and interactive formats.
In 2008, Kinane was awarded the prestigious FRAPA International GoldFormat Award at MIPCOM in Cannes.
Kinane was a Producer at Granada Television, where she produced many music programs including “The Way They Were,” a history of punk music, presented by the legendary Tony Wilson of Factory Records. She was also controller of entertainment and children’s programs at U.K. broadcasting company Tyne Tees Television, where she was Executive Producer of The Prince’s Trust Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and TV coverage of the Montreux Jazz Festival. She went on to become Executive Producer of the highly acclaimed and controversial Channel 4 youth program “The Word,” which was celebrated at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
Kinane lives in Los Angeles.
